An inspector checks an attestation on her tablet at a construction site

Inspectors and authorities

A permit on display. Checked in one second.

On site or at the counter, the inspector scans the QR code: issuing authority, holder, scope, expiry and real-time status. No more doubts in front of a photocopy.

Public attestation registry

Is it valid?

Permits, certificates, accessibility: check in one second an attestation issued by a participating authority. Free, no account.

Or scan the QR code displayed on site with your phone camera.

AccesID publishes attestations issued by third-party authorities. If there is any discrepancy, the issuing authority's registry prevails.

What each answer means

Three possible states, and what to do about each.

  • Valid

The attestation is in force as of today. Nothing to do.

  • Expired

The validity date has passed. A renewal may be underway; it is not automatically an offence. Report it to your municipality if the situation concerns you.

  • Revoked

The authority withdrew the attestation before its expiry date. The reason is not public; the issuing authority can tell you more.

Who it's for

One registry, three uses

Those who issue, those who display, those who check: everyone finds what they need.

    What you can check here

Depending on what your municipality publishes

An attestation missing from the registry is not necessarily invalid: it may simply not be there yet.

    • Accessibility

On-site assessment of the entrance, restrooms, parking and circulation.

    • Certificate of compliance

Building, installation or equipment compliant with applicable regulations.

    • Event licence

Festival, show or gathering authorized by the authority.

    • Business permit

Business authorized to operate at this address.

    • Food safety

      Food establishment inspected and authorized.

    How it works

From the authority to your phone

AccesID issues nothing: it makes attestations issued by others verifiable by everyone.

    1. The authority issues

A municipality, an organization or a partner assessor issues the permit, certificate or assessment, according to its own rules.

    2. The proof is sealed

The attestation is cryptographically signed and permanently timestamped: it can no longer be changed, not even by us.

    3. The QR code is displayed

In the window, at the counter or on site, a QR code links to the attestation published in the registry.

    4. Checked in one second

Anyone scans or searches: valid, expired or revoked. Free, no account.

    Why trust it

    Proof that cannot be altered

Every attestation in the registry carries a cryptographic signature and a permanent timestamp: it cannot be changed afterwards, not even by us.

    • Cryptographically signed

Proofs by Meritag: Open Badges 3.0 (W3C), Ed25519 signature.

    • Timestamped for good

A timestamp anchored in the Bitcoin blockchain establishes the date, without relying on our servers.

    • Hosted in Canada

No data collected on visitors. Made in Québec, in the spirit of Law 25.

AccesID publishes, in verifiable form, attestations issued by third-party authorities. We issue nothing, we inspect nothing, we decide nothing: if there is any discrepancy, the issuing authority's registry prevails.
