For users

How does AccesID assess businesses?

Depending on the badge level sought, the assessment is carried out by PromoAccès or an AccesID-certified evaluator. The Quick Scan (~15 min) covers 18 criteria with photos. The Full Audit (45–90 min) covers 48 criteria measured in mm/% with a detailed report.

Who issues the badges?

AccesID is the official issuer of the badges. Assessments are carried out by our network of evaluators (mainly PromoAccès), but AccesID validates and issues the badges. Certified OB3 and Excellence badges are cryptographically signed under the W3C Open Badges 3.0 standard.

How much does AccesID cost?

Access to the map and listings is free. You can use the “Near me” filter, view accessibility details and report problems without a subscription.

How does “Near me” mode work?

On the home page and the map, a “Near me” button uses your phone's location to show accessible businesses around you, sorted by distance. You can filter by specific need: wheelchair entrance, accessible washrooms, parking, signage, etc.

How is AccesID different from Kéroul and AccessNow?

Kéroul does wonderful work for accessible tourism. AccesID is complementary and aimed at the general public: mobile-first and free for users.

AccessNow relies on anonymous crowdsourcing. AccesID relies on identified evaluators (PromoAccès) and offers cryptographically verifiable badges. We are from Québec, French first.

Can I report an error about a business?

Yes. On every business listing, a “Report” button lets you tell us about wrong information or a change (blocked ramp, washroom turned into storage, closure, etc.). We check within 7 business days.

For businesses

How do I get my business assessed?

If your business is in a territory covered by a partner business district, the PromoAccès Quick Scan is free and automatic. Otherwise, request an assessment from the Contact page. For a Full Audit with a Certified OB3 badge, expect $249/year.

What is the difference between Recognized, Verified, Certified OB3 and Excellence?

  • Recognized = on-site Quick Scan, visual badge
  • Verified = Recognized, confirmed by the community (3+ reviews and photos)
  • Certified OB3 = complete Full Audit, verifiable cryptographic badge
  • Excellence = Full Audit ≥ 90%, exemplary level renewed every year

Can I display my badge on my website?

Yes. Once certified, you receive an HTML embed code, a high-resolution PNG image and a printable DS40 sticker. Certified OB3 and Excellence badges can be cryptographically verified by anyone via QR code.

For evaluators

How do I become an AccesID evaluator?

We train and certify evaluators across Québec. Contact us with your experience and your area of activity. You will be trained in the Quick Scan and Full Audit methodology, then get access to your personal evaluator portal with assignments and history.
